Natural stone bonding
Adhering natural stone and artificial stone tiles
Natural stone has been popular for centuries as a material for walls, floors and facades because of its unique beauty and durability. Thanks to a wide range of colours, patterns and textures, each piece of marble, granite, limestone, slate or artificial stone (and synthetic variants) has its own character. Omnicol has tile adhesives for all types of natural stone and artificial stone.
Hotel Chic in residential and commercial use
Hotel Chic, that is the interior style that ideally suits the use of natural stone. You can make beautiful spaces with mirrored veining, as wall tiles and floor tiles, but also skirting boards and frames. Becoming more popular in bathrooms is natural stone in deep colors such as dark green, dark blue and burgundy red - this gives an luxurious and special appearance. The thing to remember is that natural stone is full of minerals, is more porous, and therefore absorbs more water. We have developed fast-hardening tile adhesives that prevent discoloration or deformation of natural stone, a moisture risk caused by normal-setting adhesive (and also the leveling mortar or substrate). Precisely because natural stone is a natural product, you look for the most suitable adhesive system per type. For example, Carrara marble requires a different adhesive solution than Belgian bluestone.
Fast-hardening tile adhesives cause discoloration.
There is a chance that you will receive a project that uses tiles and slabs that resemble natural stone but actually are a synthetic combination of stone and resins. This also allows you to tile to an equally beautiful end result, and the nice thing about the processing is the certainty that every tile has the same properties.
By the way, many natural stone imitations have now also been made from ceramic. It’s important to know what material you’re working with so that the right adhesive can be used, and that discoloration doesn’t show through the tile. Always ask carefully which material you are dealing with, because Hotel Chic is possible with any tile and the right adhesive.
