Applying the base layer
Lay a stable supporting block with Omnicol bedding mortar.
When dealing with foundation walls, you may decide to build up to the desire height using insulated concrete formwork right up to the desired height. To save sawing, and to assure making your supporting lintel block stable and at the correct height, you can use an Omnicol bedding mortar and precisely plan the structure down to a single block. Lintel blocks are the stable load-bearing basis under your walls and partitions, and Omnicol’s robust bedding mortar is ideal for this. The exact layer thickness of the bedding mortar depends on any corrections you have to make to level the first row of blocks. The maximum height of the bedding mortar itself is 40mm. Place the supporting blocks in the bedding mortar so that you can very neatly reach the desired height with the following layer of formwork.
Bond blocks with a construction adhesive
Its best to check with the Builders Merchant what the compressive strength of the supporting blocks are – there may be a difference between different brands. Wait until the bedding mortar has the correct load-bearing capacity, and then place the blocks in the mortar bed. Then use one of the special Omnicol construction adhesives to adhere the standing joints. These adhesives are also ideal for further construction of the wall because only a thin layer of adhesive is required between the wall blocks to be joined, so you use little material, and they achieve enormous final strength.
